The Pick Me! book is a fun little book for young readers to explore the stages a plant takes from seed to flower. All the different stages of the plant are shown from germination until the little seed is changed into what and where it longs to be, a transformed, blossomed flower in the light.
However, the seed needs the help of someone to plant it so it may embark on its journey to becoming a flower. The seed knows exactly what she is made to be and is excited to become it. Hence, her persistent and excited requests to, “Pick Me!” This is a favorite for students and children who love to chime in, insisting, "Pick Me!" with enthusiasm.
After finishing reading the book, it is hoped that you will plant some seeds of your own and enjoy the process of watching them transform from little seeds to flowers freed. And maybe, along the way, you will even take some pictures and write your own short story!
The Pick Me! Curriculum Workbook is written to accompany the Pick Me! A Flower Awaits Her Destiny children’s book. The workbook includes 6 literacy worksheets, 2 math and 2 science worksheets, all of which are designed for second grade students, and aligned to second grade standards. The math and science sheets can be used for higher grades, as well, and both include hands-on activities involving planting, measuring and experimenting with seeds.
Many of the literacy worksheets can be used independently, but many are specifically related to the Pick Me! book.
Standards are also included for teacher use.
